MESSAGE FROM DIRECTOR

The Indonesian government through the National Coordinating Agency for Surveys and Mapping (BAKOSURTANAL) will host again the “Indonesian Geospatial Technology Exhibition (IGTE)”, which will be held in Balai Kartini Jakarta from July 27-30, 2010.

Since the 1st IGTE that was held in 2006, the geospatial technology has been increasingly used not only by government institutions but also by business sectors, academics, non government organisations and more importantly publics.

There have been wide applications of this technology, namely spatial planning, natural resource management, global climate change, business operation, environment and disaster management, public services, and many more.

From all of those examples, the more important thing is how this technology can assist government and other stakeholders in the national development acceleration. The geospatial information and technology can be used as tools in decision making starting from planning, implementation and evaluation stages or it can even be its own system in supporting the national program. An national integrated geospatial system should therefore be put as a “must”, and furthermore, a sustainable geospatial information is our main target, where contributions of many stakeholders are needed so that the information is always up-to-date and accountable.

On behalf of the Indonesian government, I like to invite you to participate in the 5th Indonesian Geospatial Technology Exhibition (IGTE 2010)”. The theme of this exhibition is “Geospatial ... Rock On”. There is no other thing than “rocking” the geospatial information for all aspects of our lives.
We look forward to welcoming you in the 5th Indonesian Geospatial Information Exhibition 2010.
